At Intercorp Hospitality Group, we are proud to welcome you in two of Spain’s most biodiverse and beautiful holiday destinations: Ibiza and Tenerife. Both islands are known for their striking landscapes, diverse terrain, precious wildlife and the spectacular waters that surround them - and we are committed to keeping it that way. We want to give you the holiday you deserve, while keeping our impact on the environment as small as possible.
It is of great importance to us that we respect and protect our precious surroundings and the delicate local ecosystem, so they can be enjoyed for many generations to come. Because of this, we are on a continuous mission to educate ourselves about the latest innovations and technologies that enable us to create a more sustainable tourism model.
In 2021 we began a process of transformation, starting with our flagship property in Ibiza, Can Salia (formerly known as Marina Palace Prestige). We are immensely proud to say that the changes we have implemented at the resort have, so far, won two sustainability awards.
Our award-winning sustainability measures at Can Salia
In 2021, Can Salia underwent an extensive refurbishment process that was centered around creating a modern, luxurious resort that is as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. We wanted our guests to be able to enjoy their stay with us in the knowledge that they are leaving a minimal footprint behind on our magical White Isle.
To achieve this, we implemented the following eco-friendly measures and technologies: * Single-use plastics have been eliminated * If windows are opened while the air conditioning is on, it will turn off automatically to save energy * Room amenities are made with 97% natural materials
- Most of the plastic used across the property has been recycled
- We changed the cladding of the entire façade to Sate, a material that insulates our building thermally
- Installation of solar panels for hot water * We reuse greywater in toilets and the irrigation of green areas
- All of our Suites are equipped with motion sensors, so that after 30 minutes without any detected motion the lights and air conditioning will turn off automatically
- The offer of electric bike rental and electric hire cars, with two charging stations available at the property
We are immensely proud to say that these changes were recognised with two sustainability awards at the annual FITtUR International Tourism Trade Fair, including the award for Knauf's Best Hotel Sustainability Project as well as an honorary recognition for the Best Hotel Sustainability and Rehabilitation Project in Spain. As we are looking towards the future, we are continuously educating ourselves and our team members on environmentally-friendly practices. Committed to becoming leaders in sustainable tourism, we continue to research and plan further improvements we can implement across all of our properties in the future.
