In the summer season, these resources triple the demand, and good management will have a direct impact on the quality and enjoyment that this magical corner of the world is capable of giving us.

Organic waste is the most essential fraction managed in Ibiza because it accounts for 40% of the waste we generate. Its classification is vital to reduce the rate of non-recyclable material but also to create renewable energy and compost for local agriculture that provides KM 0 food to many of the island's restaurants.

For this reason, in each of the Can Salia apartments, you have a bucket of organic waste on the kitchen counter, which will be collected by the cleaning team every morning, to be taken to a collection deposit where all the days we receive trucks that transport it to the treatment plant.

Fruit and vegetable, meat and fish, egg shells, shellfish and nuts, and other spoiled food remain. Coffee grounds and remains of infusions, the garden remains dry leaves, bouquets, and small plants. Kitchen paper and food-soiled napkins, corks, sawdust, and wood shavings.

For a long time in Ibiza, as in the world, garbage ended up in a landfill: a mountain of polluting garbage covered with earth

. But less than 3 years ago, a waste treatment plant was opened on our island, where the trash is classified and sent for recycling. Work was also done to convert the landfill into a 'controlled deposit.'

All the rubbish from Ibiza that is not recyclable will end up in the controlled deposit. Although it is enormous, in approximately 5 years, it will be complete.

On a piece of land as small as this island, this is a severe problem. The solutions (which still need to be created) are limited, expensive, and have a substantial environmental impact. For this reason, at Can Salia, we take the necessary measures and invite our guests to be part of the solution.

Reducing consumption is the primary goal. But we are also aware that there are things that we cannot control and are within average consumption. For this reason, in each Can Salia apartment, there are gray garbage cans in the kitchen and bathrooms for non-recyclable waste.

The cleaning team will also collect the content daily for a collection deposit. We receive trucks that transport the garbage daily to the treatment plant.

If you are enjoying our facilities, you are far from your apartment, or you want to get rid of non-recyclable waste at any time, you can also deposit it in the recycling points at the end of the corridors of each apartment floor.

Nappies compress and tampons, wet wipes, ear swabs, other hygiene products such as razors, brushes or condoms, vacuum cleaner bags, cigarette butts, excrement, ashes, and plastic wrap.

In Ibiza, we have managed to recycle 40% of the waste generated on the island. Still, even so, we are far from achieving a substantial improvement that does not endanger our ecosystem. This is why at Can Salia, we maintain a constant recycling campaign.

Each Can Salia apartment has an ecological bag to store and transport all plastic, aluminum, and paper containers to the recycling points. The points are marked at the end of the corridors of each apartment floor. They are emptied several times a day to take the waste to a collection deposit, where every day, we receive trucks that transport the rubbish to the treatment plant.

Food containers, shoe boxes, frozen products, wrapping paper, paper for daily use, hygiene and cleaning products, tubs, trays, wrappers and bags, and bottles with lids and stoppers. Metal containers, bricks, yogurt containers, custard, glass bottles, and alcoholic beverages.

Since immemorial, Ibiza has been supplied by some twenty aquifers, underground natural reserves for all its water consumption.

It may have been enough to serve the island's residents in its day, but a few years ago, everything changed, and now we are far from meeting the demand of the millions of visitors who come here every summer.

On our island, water is a scarce natural resource. Although three desalination plants that operate at total capacity throughout the season have been installed, the island lives most of the year on drought pre-alert. This is why at Ca Salia, we take all the necessary measures to optimize the use of this precious resource.

It may be surprising that a shower bath can consume approximately 9 liters of water per minute.

That is, if we shower in 8 minutes, we consume 72 liters of water per person every day.

One less minute in the shower every day can save up to 1,800 liters of water per year, and although our objective is not to control the time of peace, tranquility, and enjoyment of our guests, we provide an efficient solution.

In each shower faucet in the bathrooms of the Can Salia Apartments, there are two positions to control the water pressure. Regulating the use and pressure of water is a way of contributing to our environment.

On the other hand, and no less important, the toilets also have double buttons controlling the water used. These are measures that, if we all put them into practice, will have a significant impact on our beautiful island, which we will be able to enjoy for many more years with the same quality and experience as today.

Coming to Ibiza on vacation means leaving behind the burden and stress of every day.

But we also know that your visit is the right time to reflect and dedicate time to what is truly important. For this reason, we know that there are actions in which our guests will participate because they do not require a significant effort but are rewarding due to their impact.

Hanging and reusing your bathroom towels saves thousands of liters of water annually and reduces environmental impact by up to 30%. And we know that we are human, and everything has a fair measure. Therefore, when you want to change them, you have to leave them on the floor, and the cleaning team will replace them.

But think about this: The simple fact of considering this information most of the days of your stay makes a difference and makes you a more aware and responsible person.

If there is something we can be proud of in our facilities, it is the views we have from the hotel pools.

To enjoy the experience, we leave brown towels for outdoor use in each Can Salia apartment for guests. They are resistant and large towels to be used for several days and thus avoid constant washing that consumes millions of liters a day.
