Goodbye Megève, welcome to Ibiza!

Winter season is coming to its end in Megève, and we have really enjoyed it!

Chance had it that we chose the best dates for our ski holidays because the snow was simply perfect. The beginning of the winter season in the Alps was a bit difficult because having snowed in November there were high hopes for a truly white season but we then had to wait until the end of December. We were lucky and we had a great week, the whole village was cloaked under a white mantle.

All the family loved these holidays. You probably know that Megève is a fairy-tale village and if you’re already thinking about your next ski holiday destination I have to highly recommend it. The typical French streets, the carriages, the village in the valley and the Mont Blanc dominating the area with its awesome 4800 metres, it is simply a must. We had gone skiing in the Alps other years but now we wouldn’t change Megève for any other village!

Besides, the Royal Rochebrune hotel, where we stayed with my family, is at walking distance from the Rochebrune ski station. Leave the hotel, put on your skis and you’re skiing! A real treat!

In Spring and Summer, this area is also chosen for hiking and mountain tours, the landscapes are full with flowers and bright colours, it has to be beautiful! However, by then, we’ll be far away, thinking of the beach, the sun and the clear waters that await us in the summer. 🙂

Summer holidays … In Ibiza!

Since children don’t have school, we often choose July for our summer holiday in Ibiza. I have the impression that every year more and more travellers and tourists choose Ibiza for their holidays, both families and couples or young people and I believe the reason is the scenery and the unique beaches as well as the party nights. It is impossible NOT to fall in love with this beautiful island.

Of course, if you seek solitude, relax and empty beaches, you’re not going to find that in Ibiza in July and August!

I read that in Summer there are more than four times the number of people than in Winter and that although the island is small, the 3 million tourists, its wide range of leisure activities and over 200 km of beaches, ensure an incredible atmosphere during the summer months like can be found at very few other places in the world.

With my family and our adventurous spirit, I have found some hidden quiet coves in which we’ve been completely alone some days midsummer, no, no! I’m not going to tell you where they are, it’s my secret! … Well, okay, maybe I’ll give you some clues in my next post 🙂

Oh, and finally an important tip: Do book your holidays soon, because several hotels are already closing bookings and we’re only in March!
