The hippie movement that began in San Francisco, spreads rapidly and reaches Ibiza in the 60s when it becomes a little paradise where people, ideas and cultures of different countries are blended, something that remains present up to date.
At that time, which I would have loved to live, the island draws on artists and intellectuals, making Ibiza a magical place that attracted great interest due to its nature, weather and the air of great freedom.
These first hippies that arrived, greeted with surprise by the ibizan people who called them the “peluts” (hairy), lived in country houses forming communes and began to earn a living making handicrafts, which is how hippy markets emerged.
The essence from those hippy years still remains in Ibiza, there are many places that remain intact and that 50 years ago won the love of all these travellers and still do nowadays. I am one of them, in love with this very special island.
